A. Kimmich, MD
Dr. Robert Andre
Kimmich's Psychiatric career began at the Institute of the Pennsylvania
Hospital as a fellow. He later served as a U.S. Army psychiatrist
and was Clinical Director of the Psychiatry Department of Valley
Forge Psychiatric Hospital. He then later practiced at Worcester
State Hospital, Harvard Advanced Study in Boston and Yale as an
Assistant Professor and Chief of the Psychosomatic Clinic.
Dr. Kimmich
later moved to Hawaii where he practiced at the only Psychiatric
hospital and served as their Chief Psychiatrist and Director establishing
open wards, clinics on other islands and founded the Hawaii District
Branch of the APA.
Dr. Kimmich
was recruited to organize the program and staffing for the new Illinois
State Psychiatric Institute in Chicago and later went to California
to serve as Chief of the San Francisco Mental Health Services. Four
years later he became the Director of Mental Health for the state
of Michigan where he established mental health clinics in 54 countries.
Dr. Kimmich
presently has a private practice in San Francisco where he most
recently served as Associate Clinical Professor at Stanford. Besides
Chairman of Psychiatry at Children's Hospital, Dr. Kimmich is involved
with NCPS as Editor and served as President to the APA Assembly.
