Michael
S. Korenfeld, MD
Dr.
Korenfeld is a native of St. Louis, Missouri and attended his first
two years of college at Tulane University where he majored in Music
and Anthropology. He obtained his Bachelor of Science in Biology
at the University of Arizona where he also taught Inorganic Chemistry.
He later went on to earn his Medical Degree at Washington University
where he did a fellowship in Glaucoma at Washington University and
a year of Transitional Internship at St. John's Hospital. He completed
his Ophthalmology Residency at the Mason Institute in Columbia,
Missouri.
Dr.
Korenfeld assumed the role of Chief Resident at the Washington University
School of Medicine, during which he also held a teaching position
at the University of Missouri-St. Louis School of Optometry for
four years. He then started a private practice in Washington, Missouri,
where he currently practices.
He
recently renovated a 1949 Machine Shop to establish a full Ophthalmic
Dispensary and is currently developing a licensed Ambulatory Surgery
Center. He also founded the St. Louis Refractive Surgery Center
with several of his colleagues, of which he is the CEO.
Dr.
Korenfeld has been a Clinical Instructor as Washington University
since 1991. He holds four issued United States patents and several
pending. He is a consultant for several capital equipment and pharmaceutical
companies and is currently involved in clinical research. He is
still involved in music and is happily married with four children.
