William C. Rigano, MD
Dr. Rigano started his undergraduate studies at The Ohio State University in mathematics. After the first year, his love of chemistry blossomed and a double major was accomplished. His medical degree was finished in 1985 at the Medical College of Ohio in Toledo. During this time, the broad surgical specialty of plastic surgery took hold of his heart. Surgical internship followed in Dayton, Ohio at Wright State University Affiliated Hospitals. The surgical residency offered a broad experience in all specialties, but plastic surgery continued to provide great interest and challenges.
In 1989, plastic surgery training became a reality. At the Medical College of Ohio, the specialty of plastic surgery was ravenously explored. Hand surgery, trauma, major reconstruction, burn surgery, congenital deformities and cosmetic surgery were practiced. This extensive training enabled Dr. Rigano to join a group practice in 1991. For the next ten years, major reconstructive surgery, replantation and microsurgery were practiced in Dayton, Ohio with Hand & Reconstructive Surgeons.
In 2001, solo practice was begun and Advanced Breast & Cosmetic Surgery, Inc. came to life. With this new endeavor, an accredited surgical facility was created, managed care contracts were negotiated and the business of medicine took center stage. Clinical review, credentialing, case reviews were now reality and part of everyday life. During this time another outpatient surgical facility was started which added more management and business experience.
During the past several years, facility inspection for AAAASF has enhanced the understanding of patient safety in outpatient surgery. Expert witness testimony, claims review, credentialing, and scope of practice have become new areas of interest. As a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, our standards have raised the bar to new levels. This will continue for many years to come and Dr. Rigano is proud to be part of the future.
